Harvest TraceMaster Barcode Scanning Overview
Our barcode scanning system provides a new paradigm in business management efficiency and accuracy to manage all pack house functions including;
- Product Receival
- Recieved Bin Scanning
- Packing Batch Creation
- Pallet Entry Scanning
- Cool Store Inventory Management
- Product Despatch
All scanning systems operate on wireless networks, providing real time information for all users in the business network.
We recommend and supply ruggedised Symbol Scanners, with screen and keypad configurations. Our scanning programs are ergonomically designed to optimise user efficiency and reduce user fatigue in high demand scanning environments.
There are several barcode scanning applications to suit the business needs and capital resources of the user.
Packhouse Management
The Pack house manager provides a full suite of functions to maange the product from receival to pallet completion. These functions include
The following program functionality is available on the scanner using the line code pallet scanning system.
- Receive and weigh bins at the shed.
- Create a packing batch with the received bins
- Create new pallets
- Add to exiting pallets
- Edit pallet quantities
- Manually enter a pallet or bin barcode
- Finalise a Batch
- Print a pallet card for a finalised pallet.
Pallet Entry Scanning Options
Our barcode scanning system offers two methods to enter pallets into the HTM database.
Carton Label Scanning
HTM pallet entry scanning supports the scanning of externally printed bar-coded carton/crate labels with their own serial number. The barcode label format is determined by HTM for importation into the HTM database. This scanning option supports multiple batches on a pallet, allowing the pallet to be scanned once when it is completed. The pallet scanning supports 6 and 8 cartons per pallet layer.
Line Code Pallet and Bin Scanning System
This system offers cost effective method to rapidly enter data into HTM, removing the need to manually count packed cartons at the end of a batch and record the tallies on paper prior to entry into the program.
Line codes are set up in HTM to identify the product parameters, such as produce type, variety, brand, class, pack type and size/count to be managed. These line codes are incorporated into a barcode label which has an unique serial number.
The line code pallet scanning option is used where there are 6, 8 and 12-cartons per pallet layer, or carton barcode labels are not used. The line code scanning can be used for pallets and bins. Pallet line code scanning supports single batch data entry, which requires multiple scans per pallet. The operator scans each pallet after the end of a packing batch, to record the pack tallies of the batch on each pallet.
The line code labels can be either batch printed, or on demand printed depending on the process flow of the business.
A line code pallet label is applied to the pallet and the total cartons on a pallet are recorded after each batch using the Symbol Scanner keypad. The net carton count (current pallet carton tally – the previous pallet carton tally) for a batch on a pallet is calculated in the program. The line code pallet label identifies; the pallet number, produce type, variety, class, pack type and size/count. The line code scanning supports multiple line codes on a pallet, and provides individual tallies per line code on a pallet.
Coolstore Inventory and Despatch Management
Once pallets have been entered into HTM, all stock inventories can be managed using the Symbol PDE Scanner. The pallet card affixed to the pallet has a barcode allowing the following functions;
- Cool room bay location scanning
- Move pallets from pallet location to a new pallet location
- Create new consignments
- Add/Remove pallets in a consignment
- Confirm pallets have been loaded on transport
- Send the consignment.
- Print dispatch documentation
The stock control system is linked to the stock control screen in HTM, where cool room number and bay location filtering options locate the pallets’ position. Any consignments created using the HTM program are available on the Symbol Scanner in real-time.
